    Reeves Signals Tax Rises Ahead of UK Budget

    UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves signalled tax rises in her upcoming Budget, saying “each of us must do our bit,” and declined to reaffirm Labour’s pledges not to raise income tax, national insurance or VAT. In a pre-Budget speech three weeks early, she cited global pressures and an expected productivity downgrade, and said decisions would protect services, households and control debt.
