    Tories Seek 100% Relief for High Street Businesses

    Conservative MPs proposed abolishing business rates for retail, hospitality and leisure firms, with shadow business secretary Andrew Griffith pledging 100% relief to remove 250,000 high street premises from rates. Ministers said they recognise cost pressures and are acting. Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson said the upcoming Budget later this month will introduce permanently lower rates for affected businesses.
