    Canteen Worker Wins Unfair Dismissal Case in Ireland

    Ireland’s Workplace Relations Commission found a school canteen worker was unfairly dismissed after receiving an Aug. 8, 2024 WhatsApp message saying her services were no longer required. The employer claimed a fixed-term contract ended in May/June, but accounts conflicted. Adjudication officer Elizabeth Spelman ruled the dismissal without notice and procedurally unfair, awarding €900, about one month’s pay.
