MP seeks paid leave for fertility treatment appointments

Labour MP Alice Macdonald introduced a 10-minute rule Bill seeking a legal right to paid time off for fertility treatment appointments for patients and partners. She cited research estimating UK employers face up to £54 million annually from unplanned sick leave, with 63% of people taking sick leave to attend. Without Government backing, the proposal is unlikely to progress.
