    Badenoch attacks Labour over taxes and fiscal discipline

    Kemi Badenoch accused the Labour government of abandoning fiscal discipline and preparing tax rises, saying Rachel Reeves’s plans lack a strategy to boost work. She claimed graduate jobs have fallen by a third and criticised welfare spending. Earlier, the Chancellor declined to recommit to pledges not to raise income tax, national insurance or VAT, citing global and productivity pressures.
