    Irish lion sighting confirmed as Newfoundland dog

    An Garda Síochána has clarified that a reported lion seen in Irish woodlands was a dog. A circulating video suggested a big cat near Mountshannon, Co Clare, with posts also linking Kells, Co Meath. Gardaí from Killaloe identified the animal as a Newfoundland named Mouse, whose grooming left a mane-like ruff and tail tuft, prompting the confusion.
