Ex-Kilkenny Hurler DJ Carey Jailed for Fraud

Former Kilkenny hurler DJ Carey was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for defrauding 22 people of nearly €400,000 through a years-long scheme involving false claims of cancer. He pleaded guilty. The court heard he sought money while urging secrecy and declining fundraisers. About €44,000 has been repaid. Judge Martin Nolan imposed the sentence.
