Landslide derails Avanti train; disruption north of Preston

An Avanti West Coast Glasgow to Euston service derailed near Shap, Cumbria, 6:15am Monday after striking a landslide at 80 mph. All 87 people aboard, including 10 staff, were evacuated; four sustained minor injuries, none requiring hospital care. Passengers are advised not to travel north of Preston Monday and Tuesday, with disruption expected for days and tickets accepted on alternatives.
