    Monaghan footballer Eugene 'Nudie' Hughes dies at 67

    Eugene 'Nudie' Hughes, former Monaghan Gaelic footballer, died aged 67 after a 2018 cancer diagnosis. He won three Ulster titles between 1979 and 1988 and earned an All-Star each time, including Monaghan’s first, plus a National League title. He also won nine senior titles with Castleblayney Faughs. Tributes followed, and he received the GPA lifetime achievement award in 2024.
